THREE shelters in Seremban, Negri Sembilan received a funding boost of RM9,000 from property developer Matrix Concepts Holding Bhd just in time for Christmas.
Shekinah Care Centre, the Church of Visitation’s Ministry of the Poor and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Seremban were presented with cheques of RM3,000 each to assist with their day-to-day operations and festive preparations.
Seventy children aged between five and 17 years from the three organisations were also treated to a Christmas dinner, followed by fun games and activities at d’Tempat Country Club in Bandar Sri Sendayan near Seremban.
The event coincided with the launch of Matrix Concepts’ annual holiday-themed showcase, which is filled with activities for the entire family every weekend until Christmas Day.
Events take place from 5pm to 10pm and are open to all.
During the launch, an entertaining circus-themed performance with stilt walkers and magicians was held at the club lobby.
Santa Claus and his little elves made an appearance too and doled out goodies, which made the evening all the merrier.
Matrix Concepts chief marketing officer Lim Kok Yee said the contribution to the shelters was one of the developer’s many initiatives throughout the year.
Over the past year, it had also contributed towards food banks, flood-relief efforts and charitable organisations in need.
“It is our way of giving back to society, especially to children in need of a little bit of support and affirmation from the community.
“These children are part of our nation’s future,” he said. Lim also said this year’s holiday event themed “Magical Christmas” marked a return to grand-scale community events at Bandar Sri Sendayan.
The much-anticipated annual festivities traditionally sees the club decked out in Christmas decorations and illuminated displays.
Highlights of the weekend activities include magic shows, dance performances, Santa walkabouts, a Christmas market, and craft workshops for children where they will learn to make finger puppets and decorate fancy spectacle frames.
On Christmas Eve, visitors will enjoy a grand fireworks display.
Admission is free, but those interested in the workshops are advised to reserve their slots via the company’s website as this is on a first-come, first-served basis.
