Berjaya, Matrix Concepts aid 400 families

The Story.

Four hundred families affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion have received RM3,000 in assistance from Berjaya Corporation Bhd and Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd. Berjaya Corporation Bhd donated to 300 families, while Matrix covered another 100 families, to ease their burden during this tragedy. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the assistance demonstrated how corporate companies had come together with the government to support the victims in rebuilding their lives. He said the initiative also showed how, in times of disaster, all parties unite to help those in need. “Many corporate companies have stepped forward to provide assistance and donations, and this reflects a wonderful spirit among Malaysians. “It shows that when we face disaster and hardship, everyone, including the government, works together to support one another. “I hope this spirit reflects the unity of the Malaysian people, which we can all be proud of,” he told reporters after presenting the contributions to the victims at the Putra Heights LRT station today. Loke also expressed his gratitude to Berjaya Group founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd Chief Executive Officer Chai Keng Wai for stepping forward to help ease the victims’ burdens. At the same event, Carsome, an integrated car e-commerce company, sponsored 50 cars for the victims’ use for one month. For the first phase of the initiative, 20 cars were handed over to the victims today. Loke also announced that a company had agreed to sponsor 63 motorcycles for victims who lost their motorcycles in the fire. “For those whose motorcycles were destroyed — approximately 63 in total — I have secured a company to sponsor new motorcycles for the owners. “The handover will take place on Monday, along with the registration of the new motorcycles,” he said. Also present at the event were Berjaya Group founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd CEO Chai Keng Wai, Carsome CEO Eric Cheng, and Selangor State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han.
